I'd also like to add, and I forgot to do that, for Chaos armies of this, I would like the Dark Claw to be Khorne aligned and the Dark Eye to be Slaanesh Aligned, if it matter for the banners and badges

Hello everyone!

I got a BIG request to those who are skilled at making B&Bs

I am busy writing history and so on for my own chapter of marines: The Alpha Marines.
Basicly, they are space marines made shortly after the Horus Heresy and the founding of the Ordo Maleus.
They were made for the purpose of beating back the Chaos, but that didn't really work out as the second and third company defected to the Chaos.

I would love to get some banners and badges for the different chapters of the chapter.
I will add a pic of the color scheme for the uncorrupted space marines at the end of this post and I would also love to see a Greek letter alpha mixed into the banners and badges.

SO without further ado, these are the uncorrupted Alpha Companies:

Alpha Marines First Company:
Basicly a veteran marine company that was supposed to be much like the Inquisition.

Alpha Marines Fourth Company:
One of the few companies that were able to resist the temptation of Chaos.

Alpha Marines Fifth Mechanized Company:
The name speaks for itself. This company's strength lies in their Dreadnaughts and Land Machinery.

Alpha Marines Sixth Orbital Support Company:
This is a rather special company. They very rarely build a steady base on the ground, but rather stay in orbit around planets where other companies are fighting, sending in troops and vehicles specialised in overwhelming the enemy inside their base through droppods. They also are masters of aerial assault and are always ready for an orbital bombardment.

Alpha Marines Seventh Company:
The newest company of Alpha Marines. These marines are trained with the newest tactics and are often used as raiding squads against larger enemy positions. They're also good at stealth missions and have the best scouts of the entire chapter.

And the corrupted ones:

Dark Claw Legion (Formerly the Alpha Marines Second Company):
Before their defection, these were troops highly skilled at destructive assaults, using a lot of Terminators and Assault Marine Squads. Now that they are with Chaos, they embrace these destructive ways even more, always having their lines backed up with Raptors, Defilers and Berserkers.

Dark Eye Legion (Formerly the Alpha Marines Third Company):
The first of the Alpha Marines that defected to Chaos. Before their defection, they were much like the First Company, standing alongside them often in battle. As Chaos, they embrace dark rituals and often leave space marines bases left burning by daemon fire. Their forces are never seen without daemonic support, ranging from Horrors to even the greatest demons of Khorne.

More companies can be added as the my storywriting advances.
I will give you mostly a lot of freedom with these banners and badges, I only request to try and respect the color scheme, keep that greek alpha in it and make sure the banners fit the company and chapter.

Here's the uncorrupted marine as I have it now with the correct colorscheme.

Any questions about how I want my banners or badges can be replied here or sent to me by email.

My last request is that when the banners and badges (or atleast a few) are made, I would love to know how to add them to my game so I can use them in all my expansions (mainly Dark Crusade and Soulstorm tho)

Thanks for reading this and I hope I get to see my new banners and badges soon. Cheesy

The Armies of Warhammer mod now has an extra pattern for the Space Marines. I've been meaning to test this idea for a while, and happily it works Smiley

The original file has been updated, and the readme does contain new (and important) info. I'll write it again here and expand a little just to be clear.

I haven't edited the Armypainter UI.. I can't, just don't have the know how, sorry Sad The easiest way to use the new pattern is to select Scythes of the Emperor or Mentor Legion, and hit the + button to create a new army. Give it a name and colour away. DON'T change the pattern, or you'll lose pattern 5 and have to start over.

Primary: Arms, legs and pauldron inserts.
Secondary: Torso and pelvis.
Trim: Pauldron edging and helm.
Trim 2: Aquilla/skuls/Imperial bling.

Trim colours the helm as well because it was the only way I could satisfy both colour schemes, Mentor Legion and Scythes of the Emperor. Using any of the other colour locations meant that one, or both would colour the helm incorrectly. Just bear this in mind if you choose say, Burnished Gold for the trim... you'll get nice shiny hats as well Wink

Almost forgot.. FEEDBACK, please. Let me know how this works for you, online especially. Do your friends/opponents see the default pattern if they don't have the mod, or does it do something else?

Haven't done much painting myself recently (back in the day I used to paint D&D figures), though recently i did some Space Wolves for my son. Anyhow.. I'd use a flat sable (http://www.fauxbrushes.com/images/medium/TL-7.jpg), with very little paint, dry the brush on a tissue before dry brushing over the details.

So, I´m in. At my last Birthday they spend me the Starter-Box "Black Reach".
Sure, the SM get Black Templar ^^.
My prob is: the dataqils are that fine and little, i´m always dry over...Which brush do i need ?
I´ve seen a lot of "how to paint.....",but didnt seen wich brush they use.

I get progress at the Orks, bcs they are no so much detailed. I use washes as well, which fix a lot...
Have no camera, so i couldnt send pics.

Animated gif to display the gold reflection a little
(might take a while to load)

- Some colour collisions in the .wtp file fixed.
- Used one of the Hangar-8 created faces (with hair) from his SoB Golden Eagles pack and replaced the default one.
- Added reflection for the gold parts to improve visuals a little
- Added some blood effects (helmet and face)

Issues
######
-For now this skin is meant only for the skirmish battles. Using it in the campaign results in displaying an all grey texture. I might update this later but most likely I won't since I don't care about the campaign.

workaround
##########
-you can skip the .rsh file from this package so all looks like usual in the campaign, however you will not see the gold reflection that's all.

Installation
############
extract the files to

Dawn of War - Soulstorm\DXP2\Data\Art\ebps\races\sisters\texture_share

If the folders doesn't exist create them so the folderstructure matches the above, done.

Ah okay. I've to say that I'm curious about DoW3 I skipped DoW2 and still stick with DoW... we'll see what DoW3 will bring.

Personally I would like to see within DoW3 a DoW1 with all the nifty visual upgrades DoW2 deployed but gameplay wise more like DoW1... whatever  Grin

So, Gamescom 2010 is going on, and THQ has just announced that the next expansion for DoW II is coming out in February or March, though there isn't a whole lot of info about what new features will be involved beyond a new campaign.

I certainly hope there will be at least one new race (Imperial Guard if I get my way), because this is apparently the last expansion that will be released -- Relic will begin working on Dawn of War III immediately after Retribution's release, with a release window between late 2012 and early 2013.

I'm really interested to see how DoW III will change up the gameplay. It was a pretty big shift from DoW to DoW II -- in some cases for the better, in others for the worse, in my opinion. I'd like to see DoW III take things closer to the original style (but bigger and better), maybe take some cues from Company of Heroes, but then again, I'm completely rubbish at DoW II so maybe I'm just being biased.
