Pattern Files

Pattern FIles control the mapping of textures across the models, and the layers that control the areas available for teamcolouring in the Army Painter. Editing these files, it is possible to add or remove areas colourable in the painter, and so change the look of the models ingame. Below is a selection of Pattern files I have created and a short description of their effects.

This page is image intensive, so don't forget to give it time to load (especially if you happen to be browsing using a slower connection). Also, don't forget to ALLOW pop-ups for this site, or some of the image previews will not work as intended (or even at all).

Space Marines
last updated august 2006

To install: Using winzip, extract to your Dawn of War installation directory, with the 'Use Folder Names' option checked. Otherwise, place the files in: ..\Dawn of War\W40k\Data\art\ebps\races\space_marines\Texture_Share\

Golden Eagle Sets

These files 'hard code' the Imperial Eagle, assosciated skulls and sigils on the armour and weapons to 'old gold' (on all armours). Sets the purity seals on the Hero units to red (previously these would be set to the secondary colour), adds primary colour detail to the Force Commanders cloak. Allows the Librarian to be team colourable to some extent. Additional surface details and fixes to the original textures have been applied.

Modifications to this set have been kept to a minimum, and as a result is very compatible with any existing colour schemes (DoW original and community).

Units

WA_shoulderpad_upgrade_skull_ removal_tool

Removes the additional upgrade addons/effects when researching Bionics and Targeters for Space Marines. Marines will look as they did in pre WA, compatible with online play.

SMPF_Golden_Eagles_1.6

Compatible with the post DoW v1.4 version of doing things, eye colour is no longer teamcolourable. Instead, it follows the Trim 2 convention, which now colours the tac/assault symbols on the marines right shoulder. Installer contains all the infantry units used by the Space Marines in DoW, including hero units and Apothacaries.

Designed for Winter Assault, it will also work with original Dawn of War

Chaos Space Marines last updated 30-sep-05

To install: Using winzip, extract to your Dawn of War installation directory, with the 'Use Folder Names' option checked. Otherwise, place the files in: ..\Dawn of War\W40k\Data\art\ebps\races\chaos\Texture_Share\

Modifications to this set have been kept to a minimum, and as a result is very compatible with any existing colour schemes (DoW original and community).

Units

pf_csm
548Kb

Adds and enhances detail to pack, horns (and horn base) and breather tubes on helmet. Details are teamcolourable.

CSM_aspiring_fix_for1.4.zip
817Kb

DoW 1.4 introduced and annoying graphics bug, most noticeable
in the Aspiring Champion. The chain graphic across the chest
has an alpha channel to make it more realistic, but where the
edges of the alpha channel cross the model behind, it makes it
possible to see right through the model. The effect looks like
a silvery halo around the chain.

This file fixes that, with a couple of minor touchups as well.

PFCSM_Berzerker.zip
638Kb

A fully teamcolourable version of the Chaos Berzerker. Adds additional extra detail on horns, breastplate and Khornate badges to make this a more 'generic' berzerker shock trooper, and not specifically badged Khorne. Totally unfluffy but then is having the 'zerker available for any army but Khornes...

Vehicles

pf_defiler
1.32Mb

On the original, no alpha channel was included so the blades appeared as flat rectangles. This fixes it, and the blades now appear as the sawtooth triangular blades a Defiler should have.
